The Meeces: August 2012

We had another great trip to the Outer Banks! The girls had so much fun playing with Ben and all the rest of the fam. We decided to stay on the Sound this year and we all shared an awesome house with beautiful views! We had two days of bad rain which was a bummer, but luckily our last two days were great weather. The girls wore themselves out everyday digging in the sand, swimming, and running all over the house.

Ben and Savannah chased each other around all the time! The top floor of the house was the perfect wide open space to run. Both the girls were up by 6:00 every day (boo!!!) and they would start their circles around the couch..just trying as hard as they could to not let anyone else in the house sleep in.

And by "sleep in"- I mean sleep until 7:00...which is late in the Richardson family.

This is not what you want to see at the beach when you wake up! It was dark and storm aallll day! You know what all the adults do on a day like this?- eat everything in the house...muffins, egg salad, chips, rotel, brownies, rice crispy treats, beer, and top it off with crab nachos for dinner....

This is the new Tyler! Runner Tyler. He has become a runner and even ran multiple times at the beach including one run in the rain and one 6.5 mile run. He's doing great!

Cute cousins!

The "real" beach was just a quick drive across the street. In the Outer Banks you can drive your car on the beach and just park it and set up camp for the day.

Skylar loves the ocean!! She loved sitting at the surf, digging her hands into the wet sand, and letting the waves splash her. And after four years, we finally found some good knee pads to save her little knees from the hot sand.

Savannah, on the other hand, hated the ocean. I am really hoping she was just not fond of the water temp and that it has nothing to do with some unforgotten fear of her being tipped over by a wave two years ago. Savannah likes her swimming water a pleasant 92 degrees, and the ocean was brisk. Please don't hate the ocean forever Savannah!
