Outer Banks

We spent a wonderful week at the beach with my family last week. I loved seeing Benjamin for a whole week- he is such a cutie! Jenny's mom joined us too and we all stayed in a great house one lot back from the beach. The weather was actually pretty terrible most of the week, but we had about 2 1/2 days worth of beachy weather. The ocean was cold and waves were huge and the red no swimming flag was up. It might be the only time I have ever been to the beach and not gone swimming. I usually would have been tempted to go regardless of the flag, but thought maybe 7 month baby meece might not enjoy getting tossed around in the waves. We would wade out far enough to get Sky wet and she loved it. She loved the water coming towards her and would squeal when the waves hit. She loved the sand too and was a complete mess. She would try and wrestle out of our arms to get down so she could crawl and dig in the sand.
On our rainy days we would lounge around in pjs, play with Ben and Sky, read, just hang out, and of course eat lots of yummy food. Skylar loved having so much attention and was waving HI to everyone all week. She also loves to say uh-oh and has finally perfected the uh-oh and drop a toy off the high chair trick.

I love this face! She looks scared to death....but really she loved it.

Memphis Part 2

Tyler got to join us in Memphis for the last part of our trip. He was so excited to see Skylar after a week of being away. We ate great food all weekend which of course included some Rendezvous ribs. We also had Gus's Fried Chicken for the first time because we had seen it on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives...and it was awesome. They also had the best mac n cheese. I was lucky to have a free babysitter for a few nights during the week and got to hang out a lot with Katie.

Ty and I celebrated our 7th anniversary! We had a fun night out and went to Paulettes, where we had our rehersal dinner 7 years ago. The popovers and crepes were amazing. We made a stop at Target on our date night and looked at baby clothes. Fun for me....not sure it was so fun for Tyler, although he is good at picking out cute baby girl clothes.

Bath time with Gigi in the sink.

We got to meet up with Lara and her girls one morning. They are really cute and sweet and Sky was interested in all the new toys she had never seen before.

Skylar and Avery

Lara is pregnant too with her third girl and looks great. Carly wasn't so excited at the moment to be in pictures.

Turtles on the log

Sunday was a beautiful day. It was Memphis in August and was only 80 degrees which is so rare. We headed to the "newish" Wolf River interpretive trail. It is totally paved and has these really fun stops all along the way that talk about what you are seeing....turtles, blue herons... I would love to work somewhere like this one day and think it is a great place for kids to learn and explore. I think it is a few miles long but we didn't walk the whole thing since we didn't want to press our luck with Sky in the stroller. She actually did pretty good even though she normally throws a fit in the stroller.

We are finally getting back to normal and we head to the Outer Banks in two days!

Fun beach pictures to come.....

Fun Week in Memphis Part 1

We spent a very fun and busy week in Memphis last week. Tyler was in Minneapolis for a meeting so I decided to head home with Sky one last time before new baby arrives. Ryan and Jenny decided to head down for the weekend too and then my dad and Janis decided to come too. It was like a last minute mini family reunion. Skylar and Benjamin got to see each other for the first time. Mostly Skylar was unphased by Ben, but she did think his cute little baby noises were funny. She didn't seem to mind me holding him at all and still thought she was the center of attention. I don't know how we are going to be taking care of two babies in just a few months. Yikes!

I had such a great time getting to see family and friends all week. I love Memphis! Not because it is such a great city or anything, but just because it feels like home. Everything is familiar and everything has a memory. Just driving around town through different parts of Memphis brought back lots of great childhood and highschool memories. It has been fun to move around lately and get to experience new cities but you forget how nice it is to feel at home. Hopefully we will be settled somewhere when the girls are a little older so they can have the same experience.
