Savannah 9 months old

Savannah has had a really fun month of crawling, cruising, squealing, and chasing after Skylar. She weighs 16.5 lbs now and is 28 inches tall. She has caught up on the height curve and the doctor says will probably be about 5'6" now. She is very independent in a lot of ways, but she still likes for you to be in the room and cries a pitiful cry when we leave the room. She certainly doesn't want to be held- she is way too busy for that- but she likes for everyone to be around just watching her. She doesn't like help with anything and gets mad when I try and help her hold her sippy cup or turn the page for her. She still hates sitting still and likes to keep her legs straight as a board when I am trying to put her in her high chair...until sometimes I literally have to do a sweep the leg move on her to get her to sit down. And when I am carrying her on my hip she likes to straighten out her legs and grab onto my shirt and try and climb up my shoulders. She loves to pull up on the knobs of our kitchen island like it is her own personal climbing wall. A few weeks ago we heard a commotion from her room and Ty went and checked on her and found that she had entirely dismantled her mobile and had pieces of it strewn across the room. He said it was like Baby King Kong in there destroying the village. Her poor room is getting more and more generic. We have already had to take away the fluffy homemade bumpers from Gigi because she was standing on them....and now no mobile anymore. She is also really hard to change and is constantly twisting and turning until I am breaking a sweat when she is finally dressed. All of that to say....she is a super active on the go baby!
But for that we are also really thankful.
She loves her sister and especially loves whatever Skylar is playing with at the moment. The favorite toy of the house right now is Skylar's Baby Penelope doll and then just a spoon and a bowl that they love to play with.
She takes two naps a day and usually sleeps good at night although she has the occasional wake up at 5 am and talk for an hour party. She likes to be loud and squealing but doesn't make many mama dada sounds yet. She likes fruit, veggies, and cereal but is not a huge fan of meat or green things.
She makes us laugh a lot and she can make me tired just watching her:)

We love the Outer Banks!

We had a wonderful trip to the Outer Banks last week! The weather was the best weather I have had on a beach trip in a long time. Beautiful long days and it only rained a few times. The days felt especially long because the girls got up by 6:30 most mornings. I guess they just couldn't wait to head to the beach.
Skylar loved saying "Ooooooosshean!" all week. Not sure why the long ooo's, but she loved to drag it out and say it as loud as possible whenever we went outside. My mom thinks she was trying to be louder than the waves- and it worked:)
The ocean was actually a little chilly this year for kiddos to be swimming in, so besides getting their legs wet, they didn't swim in the ocean too much. We had a baby pool out on the beach that would get warm enough after it sat out and they really enjoyed playing in that.
Savannah loved to eat the sand and didn't really get sidetracked by terrible taste. Skylar still tried a handful, but then made a funny face and for the most part steered clear. I love it when they just sit and look at their hands like- what the heck is this stuff and why doesn't it come off?
We had lots of good pool time too and especially loved adult swim time every afternoon. We usually got at least 1-2 hours kid free and a couple days Ben, Sky, and Savannah were on the same napping schedule and everyone got to hang out by the pool. We know that our relaxing beach trip days are long gone, but even an hour here and there is really nice.

Now all the sand is gone?...

Savannah loved walking on the beach.

Escape artist! She realized she could climb out of the pool and dive into the sand.

You can barely see the beginning of Savannah's second bottom tooth and by the end of the week in had come in completely.

Ben is picking up from last night's party...

Cousin playtime- Ben loved to steal the baby dolls.

Savannah pushing Ben's walker...and cheesin it up for the camera

He justs melts you with those eyes...

Two little baby teeth!

Look at this little gymnast body- She is so solid and tiny.

When I see a family with three kids all looking at the camera- I have no idea how they do it. Nearly impossible with this group!

This picture just makes me laugh.

Pretty family

Right after this picture a big wave came and I had to sacrifice my camera to help grab them. Completely submerged under water. The screen is broken and there is sand in the trigger, but it will still take pictures if you can get the trigger pushed. Haven't taken it anywhere yet to assess the damage- but really hoping we don't need a new camera.

Jenny catching a much needed snooze after chasing after Big Ben all morning.

Gigi and Grandude brought a fun tunnel to play in...

All boy...Ben stole Jenny's pizza out of her hand and gobbled it up.

Funny Savannah face

Gigi and Grandude and the girls

We were laughing at this picture because somehow I have big Texas hair

Sweet girl

All the kids and grandkids

Apparently Ryan was saying something hilarious...

What a great week! Can't wait to do it again next year!
