St. Louis

In July we took a trip to St. Louis for Skylar to see a new neurologist at Washington University. Her appointment was the main reason for the trip, but we were able to stay a few days and see family and have some fun too! Gigi came with us too and enjoyed seeing some of her favorite parts of St. Louis from when she lived there. On the way there we stopped at Lambert's in Sikeston, Mo. Savannah loved it and thought the throwed rolls were the coolest thing ever! ;)

Skylar got too excited and wound up by the whole experience and had to leave lunch early :(
We visited the arch our first afternoon...

The next morning we were up super early for Skylar's doctors appointment. We were there for almost four hours, but she did pretty well with lots of distractions ;)
After the doctor we walked around and went to a really fun place for lunch called Fitz's.

Fitz bottles their own root beer and sodas and the girls loved watching while we waited for our food...
(Savannah eventually fell off of this chair and caused a little scene ha. Ego wounded, but she was fine)
That same night we took the girls to their first Cardinals game! It was all of our first time at the new stadium and it was beautiful! We loved seeing the new stadium and the new Cardinals Nation area with restaurants and shops. We met Josh, Shelley, and Olivia at the game too! It was a gorgeous HOT afternoon..

I love this picture- it sums up perfectly the first couple hours of the game. The girls were absolutely melting in the sun, or so they thought. :) Savannah eventually stole my sun glasses and Tyler's hat and did a little better. We spoon fed each of them a frozen lemonade for a while and that helped too. Oh, there is a Cardinal's game going on?? We were too busy cooling down whiney girls to notice ;) After the sun went down, things went much smoother! And in their defense, for Sky especially, it had been a really long day already...too much probably, but that is just when the game happened to be.

Savannah Loved Olivia!!
Skylar took a little walk to get out of the heat and met a new friend..
Walking to get treats with Liv...

The sun is down and now we have Icees and happy, wild girls!

Big night out for the Meeces!
On our way back to the meet the hotel van, Savannah was running on the sidewalk and ran right to the edge of a super busy corner. Everyone who was around gasped and about had a heart attack that she was going to run straight into the street. We had a big embarrassing public scene and meltdown following. But thank goodness everyone was safe. I think we might have said we were never going anywhere ever again lol.. Lucky for the girls, we usually recover fairly quickly and find the courage to try things again ;)
The next day we went to Josh and Shelley's house and got to see lots of family! Michael and Elisabeth came down to visit, and Jill and Paul also brought Grandma Carroll down for a visit too. Shelley made a wonderful lunch for everyone and it was so great to catch up and hang out for a while together. Wish we could see everyone more often.

After our visit with the Lee's we headed back downtown for one more visit to Cardinal's Nation. Oops...feet on the table..

Bye Cardinals!
We also made a quick stop to see the first library where Gramp ever worked. It is beautiful inside and still has that classic library smell.
We ended our trip with some Ted Drewes famous frozen custard. This is how busy it was on a random summer Thursday!? Well worth the wait though!..

What a whirlwind trip!

July

Besides our trip to St. Louis in July, we stayed home and enjoyed: no school, 'less' schedule, great weather, and tried to make the most of Daddy's days off! We went to a Wednesday night series at church this month, so the girls loved going to church twice a week too!
Pretty in pink in adorable dresses from Aunt Minde...
We discovered Outshine Popsicles this summer (pretty good for you??) & the girls thoroughly enjoyed them ;) ...

Playing outside in a little rain shower...
....and we saw another beautiful rainbow! It was a double too, but it is hard to see in the pic...

Nightly pjs and books...
Love my night walks when I am able to get one!...
Tyler usually has Thursdays off to make up for working on the weekend, and we usually try to cram a Saturday and Sunday's worth of activities into one day! ;)
Our first stop on this day off was Jerry's Sno Cones- a famous Memphis staple with delicious Sno Cones. We had never been there before and were so excited! Our visit went terribly and ended with two sweaty, whining and crying, impatient girls- and two disgruntled parents. Of course we should have given up and come home and let everyone settle down for the rest of the day, but in true family form, we refuse to take the smarter/easier route and we forged on- determined to have a day of fun whether they liked it or not ;)

Next stop- the zoo! Everyone was much happier by now, and they were even happier after some Icees that are an absolute must have on our trips to the zoo. Skylar is always happiest when she is sipping on a cold sugary drink ha :)
Petting the sting rays...

...and finally, we ended the day with a nice refreshing swim!

I think we wore Skylar out!
Playing outside on the 4th of July morning... Ty had to work, and no one was coming over until late afternoon, so I guess we didn't see a need to get dressed?? ;)
Happy 4th! Ready for a cookout with Gigi and Grandude...

Taking a walk after dinner...

Silly in Gigi's glasses..
Serious and sweet...

Swimming at KTs!...

Drawing animal faces with a new book from Gramp...

Just some afternoon entertainment...
Our local children's boutique hosted a Frozen day! There were fun activities and snow cones for the kids...and Elsa was there!

Mimi came in town for a visit and we got to take her out to brunch at the Peabody. We loved having her visit, and of course Savannah loved having Max to play with too;)

Savannah loves going down this slide at the gym pool!...
And she loves doing an 'obstacle course' on the fitness equipment at our local park...
We took the girls to Chuck E Cheese's for the first time on another one of Tyler's days off. They both had a blast!! Savannah loved playing every game and Skylar loved making us chase her all around while she ran around the whole place checking everything and everyone out...

We took a trip to the zoo with our friend Susan and her three boys. She is amazing and brave to take her three kids under 3 to the zoo, and they were so good the whole time! They were so good that it rubbed off on the girls and they were really good too! ;) Love a successful zoo trip!

Helping Mommy make lunch, still half in pjs with unbrushed hair.. good day..
