Blue Ridge Parkway

We went on a last minute trip over the weekend to see our friends John and Lorena and their kiddos. They live outside of Charlottesville right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and the area was beautiful. John picked a nice shady hike for us since it was one of the hottest days of the summer so far. The kids did great and Annelise (3) even hiked the whole way herself and was such a big girl. Towards the end Skylar got antsy in her backpack carrier and Tyler booked it out of there with her and waited at the car for the rest of us. We went back to their house for some play time and pizza. It was a really fun day!
We did learn that Skylar is still not a great car traveler. We put her down early for her morning nap so at least she could get a little sleep before we headed out. She woke up after 30 minutes with a poopy diaper and nap chances were ruined. She was so exhausted by the time we left cause she had been up for 9 hours. She was fighting so hard to not go to sleep on the way home and it was really pitiful to watch. She finally passed out and we let out a huge sigh of relief that the remaining hour of our trip would be peaceful. Five minutes later she woke up crying again. After we pulled over and got her out for a minute she was hyper and happy as could be. We put on a little JT and she was good to go the rest of the way home. Apparently all she needed after 9 hours was a little 5 minute cat nap and she was set. What are we going to do when we have to drive to Knoxville!?
This first video is Skylar fighting to stay awake. It is so funny at the end....the sneeze just puts her over the top. The second video is literally 10 minutes later when she is hyper as can be.

The Lee's Visit

Tyler's aunt and cousins got to come visit from Illinois last weekend. We hadn't seen them in over a year and it was really fun to catch up. Olivia had fun playing with Skylar and kept Skylar thoroughly entertained. We went to the Children's Museum and hung out around our neighborhood at the park and pool. Olivia is a great swimmer and went off the diving board for the first time. Another first for the weekend....Aunt Jill and Michael had their first ever Chick-fil-A. They got to sample the yummy milkshakes too.

Aunt Jill brought Sky a new outfit and she loved playing with the paper.

It's a girl!

I just realized that we hadn't made an official blog announcement yet.....we are having another baby girl! She was curled up super tight and didn't want to cooperate so the ultrasound tech didn't get a great look, but was pretty sure she saw a girl. She also couldn't get some of the measurements she was supposed to so we get to have another ultrasound on the 14th and will hopefully get to know it is a girl for sure. We are really excited about another girl and most importantly that everything they could see so far looked healthy and perfect. We are liking Savannah as a name and are going to see how it feels after calling her that for a few weeks. I tried to scan the ultrasound pics but they didn't turn out great. I will see if Ty can do a better job and maybe put some up. We got a great tiny feet shot...can't wait to see what she looks like!

Getaway to DC

Tyler and I got to go on a really fun overnight getaway to DC last weekend. Tyler's mom (Mimi) came and stayed with Skylar for her first time away from both of us. They did great and had a good time while we were gone.
Tyler and I both hadn't been to DC in years and decided we should take advantage of as much "Virginia stuff" as we can while we are here and only a few hours away. We packed a full sightseeing tour into our 24 hours and got to visit lots of museums and memorials and eat some yummy food. The National Air and Space Museum was one of my favorites and we got to see a space shuttle, a Concorde, all sorts of military planes and helicopters including the Enola Gay, and some little trick planes.
