We went on a last minute trip over the weekend to see our friends John and Lorena and their kiddos. They live outside of Charlottesville right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and the area was beautiful. John picked a nice shady hike for us since it was one of the hottest days of the summer so far. The kids did great and Annelise (3) even hiked the whole way herself and was such a big girl. Towards the end Skylar got antsy in her backpack carrier and Tyler booked it out of there with her and waited at the car for the rest of us. We went back to their house for some play time and pizza. It was a really fun day!
We did learn that Skylar is still not a great car traveler. We put her down early for her morning nap so at least she could get a little sleep before we headed out. She woke up after 30 minutes with a poopy diaper and nap chances were ruined. She was so exhausted by the time we left cause she had been up for 9 hours. She was fighting so hard to not go to sleep on the way home and it was really pitiful to watch. She finally passed out and we let out a huge sigh of relief that the remaining hour of our trip would be peaceful. Five minutes later she woke up crying again. After we pulled over and got her out for a minute she was hyper and happy as could be. We put on a little JT and she was good to go the rest of the way home. Apparently all she needed after 9 hours was a little 5 minute cat nap and she was set. What are we going to do when we have to drive to Knoxville!?
This first video is Skylar fighting to stay awake. It is so funny at the end....the sneeze just puts her over the top. The second video is literally 10 minutes later when she is hyper as can be.
