We were blessed with another beautiful October week at the beach over fall break! We love going in October with cooler temps and less crowds. Tyler and I were both not feeling great, so we couldn't fully enjoy it as much as other years. Short nights, early mornings, and long days definitely didn't help either, but that's how we usually roll on vacation lol ;) Skylar didn't have her best week either, but I'm hoping for some happy, healthy family time when we go next year! It was still a gorgeous week though and we got lots of fresh air and beach time! Savannah had the best time!! She was on turbo speed all week for some reason, and she literally made me tired just watching her. She would play by the surf jumping waves or playing on her boogie board and then swim in the ocean for a while and then swim in the pool for a while. And a few afternoons she still had so much energy that she would just start doing exercises by herself in the sand. A few neighboring beach goers were cracking up....they couldn't believe all of her activity all day! :) Savannah, when you are old enough to be reading this, ask me to show you all of the videos we have of your beach antics. You never cease to entertain us!
Happy to be out of the car and at our condo! They were excited about our view for the week!
One of our favorite things at the condo- the luggage carts!
Back out for dinner and grocery shopping. Savannah wanted to wear her extensions from crazy hair day the day before.
Skylar and I had to leave dinner early, but we got to see a pretty sunset in the distance while we waited for everyone...
Happy little helper!
The girls were really excited to try and sleep in the same room for the first time! It was short lived, but it's a cute picture lol :)
Perfect way to start our first morning at the beach! You can definitely tell Tyler was in charge of the girls donut selection... :)
Always snackin!
Dinner at Lulus. Too small for the ropes course this year, but maybe next time!
Why are we out to dinner with these wild eyed girls!? ;)
Another beautiful, calm ocean day! Love it!
Savannah found some treasures in the storage closet and came out ready to go!
Keeping herself entertained while we get everyone and everything ready to go out...
Love these smiles!
Dinner at the Hangout and one of the highlights of their trip...Souvenir City!
Sunrise with Savannah...
Family picture attempts...
This was one of the only days we started to have bad weather. So, we decided to pack up and head out on an excursion for the afternoon...
Waiting for a table at Lamberts at 2:00pm on a random weekday in October!?
Skylar had to leave lunch early, but Savannah enjoyed herself and especially enjoyed the giant rolls!
After lunch we went to the outlets and played on the playground a little bit...
Riding the ferris wheel with Gigi...
Hold on Gigi!
Then we went to a cool new place called The Wharf and rode the giant ferris wheel! We walked up right as they were about to take off and there was no line, so it kindof worked out perfectly. I didn't really even have time to second guess whether we should be taking the kids on it or not lol ;) We were looking at it and talking about it, and one minute later we were riding to the top!
The view was beautiful! Savannah loved it and Sky took a few minutes to think about it, but she loved it by the time we were coming down...
When we got back to the condo the weather had passed and we all walked out to the beach for a bit...
Tyler and I got to go out later and enjoy some drinks and dessert...
Cinnamon sugar pita chips with berries and whipped cream... Yum!
And an Orange Beach staple, the Bushwacker
Another early morning with this sleepy eyed girl, but we got to see another beautiful sunrise together...
Gummy worm donuts!?
This particular night we decided to go take pictures at this cool beach spot we had seen but never been to. We checked what time the sunset was and started getting everyone ready. Well, we now know that the "sunset" time means that the sun is GONE by that time lol. There was a gorgeous sun setting when we left the condo and we chased it down as fast as we could, but we didn't make it in time! Tyler was driving like we were in a Nascar race and we were all swerving and bumping around in the backseat. The girls thought it was funny and were laughing at me being dramatically disappointed about missing the sunset. But we had made the effort to get everyone ready, so we pressed on anyway with no expectations of light or a pretty view. But it ended up being so pretty anyway and we had this beautiful gray sky with just a little glow still from the sun. And the girls were happy and still having fun from the ride over, so we were able to get some great pictures after all!
This girl adores her Daddy! Especially when he is saving her from a long walk on the boardwalk...
Sleepy, sick Daddy...
Too bright!
Adult snack time!
Most days, Skylar liked to sit and whirl her arms all around throwing sand everywhere. But this day she decided to just lay down and roll all around it....I think she had sand in her hair for days!
More beach shananigans :)
Savannah loved writing in the condo journal and did a great job! Such a sweet five year old!
Enjoying one last night of balcony sitting...
Savannah was busy with lots of artwork on the way home...
The girls are loving "Who let the dogs out" and were going wild when we heard it on the way home! Never a quiet ride in the backseat with these two! :) I know I will miss this one day though.
It is a long trip for anyone, but they are troopers!
Until next year!...
