In March, Skylar started a sixteen week long intensive vision therapy schedule. She has to go to therapy twice a week during the sixteen weeks. Her eyes are not working together 100% effectively, so the goal of therapy is to help re-train her eyes to work more functionally together. We know she "sees" OK, but we aren't sure she is seeing exactly like how we see. Which makes it hard for her to focus sometimes and also makes it harder for her to do tasks that require alot of hand/eye coordination. Her glasses and her eye surgery helped fix her alignment so that her eyes appear straight, but apparently they did not really help improve the functional quality of her vision. Unfortunately, no one in Richmond offers vision therapy starting at age 4, so we are having to drive to Fredericksburg, VA twice a week. It is about an hour and a half each way. Luckily, the girls are doing well so far and they actually enjoy a little extra TV time in the car. It makes for a really busy schedule though! Right now between vision, physical, occupational, and speech therapies- we spend 12 hours a week either in the car driving to therapy or at therapy. That is a long time!! And of course we still have preschool and doctors appointments on top of that. I would love to think that if we had a typical lifestyle without therapies or doctor appointments, and I had 12 hours extra a week...that I would fill that time with: 1) Going to the park. Everyday. 2) Exercising 3) Having an organized house 4) Making real dinners with nothing frozen.
But until then, I will just be thankful that we have great people on Skylar's team and that we are able to provide for her everything that we can!
One of our therapy days we have to leave for Fredericksburg at 7:30. Which is not super early, but before the time change it was still pretty dark....and one morning on our way I turned around to check on Sky and saw the sun rising over her head. And I thought to myself- this is crazy!? This poor 4 year old is watching the sun rise on her way to therapy?? But, there really is not much we would not do or try for this sweet girl. And she is such a trooper through all of it! I certainly hope that she gains alot during therapy and that in the end it is worth all of the effort that the whole family puts in to making it happen.

Excited for her new favorite show- Super Why!
In the zone movie faces lol. Skylar usually only lasts about 20-30 minutes before she takes her headphones off. But any number of minutes I can spare myself from Dora or Super Why or Umizoomi- I will take it! :)
