Rough Night

We decided that it was time to try and wean Skylar from being swaddled at night. We started last night because Tyler was off and could help. It did not go well at all and none of us got much sleep because Skylar was up about every hour. Her arms were just waving all around. She managed to scratch her face up pretty good which I feel terrible about because we are bad about keeping her nails short.
O well, we will try again tonight!

We did manage to all catch a nap this morning and then get up in time to catch the ECU game. So close Pirates!

Playtime with Daddy

Skylar had her 4 month shots this week and was a little out of whack. The only thing that would really make her happy was laying on her back on the floor with one of us sitting or laying beside her talking to her. Needless to say I did not get much done this week, but it was kindof nice just to have some one on one time. Here she is talking to Daddy.

Outer Banks

We had a great week at the beach last week. It was so fun to get to see my family and for Tyler to be off of work for a week. Skylar did great and was thrilled to have constant entertainment from aunts and uncles and grandparents. We made it through Tropical Storm Hanna and really didn't have too bad of weather all week. On the way there though the road was flooded and we had to drive through a couple miles of water on the road that got to 18 inches deep. They were only letting SUVs go so we were very lucky to make it through. Cars had to wait another 3-4 hours for the tide to go down.
We also had another fun driving experience on the last night. We were headed to dinner and we decided to drive on the beach for a bit. (Vehicles are allowed on the beach there and lots of people drive out there to fish) We started driving and were all having fun and watching the waves and then we realized we werent seeing any more cars anywhere and thought we werent going to find another road access exit. I thought we were going to have to turn around and go all the way back. We were sliding around on the sand and sometimes would have to get pretty close to the water to avoid hitting a dune. I love off roading, but I was even a little nervous with Skylar in the car. We eventually found an exit though and got back on the road and headed to dinner.
I was a little dissapointed that Skylar didnt get to wear her cute bathing suits and play in the water, but it was really too cold for her. She did love her walks on the beach in her baby bjorn.

Beach Bound

Despite Tropical Storm Hanna, we are headed to the Outer Banks tomorrow for a week! It looks like it is going to rain almost everyday which is a bummer cause we have been planning this trip for 6 months, but at least Tyler will be off of work and we will get to see family. I have been packing all week and can not believe how much stuff we have to take. This shot is just some of the things we are taking a doesn't include anything that Skylar still needs until tomorrow....bouncy seat, bath tub, bottles.... It is her first night away from home so hopefully we remember everything.

6th Anniversary

Tyler and I celebrated our 6th anniversary this weekend. Tyler's mom came in town for the long weekend so we got to go out on our anniversary which was so nice. We went out for a great dinner and then went to see Tropic Thunder which is terribly crude but hilarious. Skylar had a good time with Grammy Carroll and kept her entertained with her new cooing abilities.

Sweet Girl

Last night when I was walking Skylar upstairs she put her arms out real wide and laid her head down like she was giving me a big hug. It was so sweet to have some before bedtime snuggles.
It looks like I need bedtime too:)
I love going in to wake Skylar up from her nap. She is the cutest sleeper and when I take her blanket off she does this big stretch where she curls up and puts her tiny butt up in the air, stretches her hands up by her face, and then pushes her legs back out. Skylar "sat up" for the first time on the couch today. She could hold herself up for about 30 seconds at a time and then start leaning over. I know she is still a petite thing but we think she is getting so big! Look at her belly in this picture- it's almost like she can't sit up cause her little round belly is in the way.

Good friends, good food, and good times

This past weekend Dianne, Amanda, Meredith, Lauren, and Kristy all came to visit. It was sooo much fun and we laughed all weekend (thanks in part to funny stories, games, and lots of yummy drinks). Everyone got to meet Skylar and after seeing her their consensus was that she looks like Tyler. The trip couldn't have come at a better time for me and it was awesome to have some much needed girl time.
I wish we lived closer and could do it more often!Out to eat Italian for Dianne's BirthdaySkylar's new girlfriendsSome pajama Guitar Hero...Fun in the Mom mobile

Hangin Out

(I wrote this post last week and then our internet went out right before I was going to post it. So, the news is old, but pics are still new...)
Tyler is in Minneapolis this week so Skylar and I have been getting lots of quality hang out time. She has kept me pretty busy but has been such a good girl. She has been wearing lots of different outfits this week cause she finally fits perfectly into her 3 mo. clothes and can even wear some of her 3-6 mo. clothes.

This cute outfit is from Meredith- thanks Mer!

This is Skylar's 'I wish Daddy was here to entertain me face'

Any resemblance?

Here are some baby pictures of Tyler and I. She looks more like us now than when she was born, but she still doesn't look exactly like either one of us. We think it's a good mix of both. See what you think....

I only have this picture of Tyler to compare to.

This is a terrible picture of Skylar, but it is funny because we were both wearing the same dress and the bow on the front popped up exactly the same. This was the dress that I wore home from the hospital that Skylar also wore home. I thought I would take one last round of pictures with her in it before she outgrew it. I did get some good shots where she is not making this bored face.

National Night Out

Target was one of the sponsors at National Night Out last night and Tyler was volunteering so Skylar and I decided to visit. There were a couple hundred people there and it was the biggest crowd she had ever been around. She did great! She was looking all around for about 15 minutes and then she went into shut down mode and went to sleep and Tyler just carried her around and showed her off.
