Water

Greenville water has been contaminated with E. Coli and we can't use any water without boiling it first. The news came out yesterday afternoon after I had already had many glasses of water and made coffee at home. Tyler thinks it might have been going on already for a few days cause they had some weird yellowish water come back up in the toilets at Target.
It really makes you appreciate the luxury of having running water. We are having to brush our teeth with bottled water. When I checked the news today they warned to not even shower and if you do to sanitize your hands after. Tyler and I both already took showers so hopefully we don't get some nasty bacteria.
So, enjoy your water today!

First Smile

Skylar smiled for the first time! It was so cute. I wasn't sure at first if it was just gas but I was talking to her and then a few second later she smiled again. It made my day!

Playtime

I have started trying to get Skylar on a 3 hour schedule of eating, "playing", and sleeping. She is so funny and refuses to look at anything babyish or any baby toys. She is entertained by the randomest things. When we are on the couch she likes to look at the black and white pictures on the wall above us and when she has tummy time on the floor she likes to look at the baskets in our coffee table. She hasn't really liked her swing very much but I thought I would give it another try- she was immediately entranced with the warning/instructions label and ignored all the fun animals. I started reading the label to her which was like....to avoid serious injury and death do not leave baby unattended... (also in Spanish). I felt like Three Men and a Baby where he is reading the newspaper headlines to her.
I guess we should be thankful that she is so easily entertained. I wonder how long she will be happy to look at a warning label or a basket. :)

Spoiled Rotten

Tyler is closing tonight at work so he offered to help with Skylar last night. He got up to feed her around 8:00 and tried to get her to go back to sleep but she was being fussy. He brought her in our room and laid her down on the bed...she immediately stopped being fussy. So we laid there really quiet for a minute to see if she would go to sleep. She moved around for a little bit and then rolled over on her side and starting reaching for Tyler's face with her arm and then fell asleep with her arm on him. It was so cute I couldn't resist..but boy are we in trouble with this little girl- right now she pretty much gets whatever she wants:)

6 Week Checkup

I finally made it home from my 6 week checkup in Raleigh today. Skylar and I have been home alone for two days cause Tyler is out of town for work. Today was the first time I have taken Skylar anywhere besides the pediatrician by myself- so I am pooped now! The dr. went well and I am free to start working out again. I am also excited to get to cut the grass again which I have missed this summer.
Skylar did as good as she could for a 6 hour trip. She did cry in the waiting room and in the exam room but everyone thought it was cute. The doctor said the nurses love it when the babies cry so they get to hold them.
She did sleep all the way there but I had to pull over 4 times (and 2 poopy diaper changes) on the way home to calm her down. Thank goodness for the Expedition and for hand sanitizer! So, I don't think we will be driving to TN anytime soon.
Here she is all tuckered out after the trip. She has on my favorite outfit that fits her right now- I love the little ruffle bottom. She looks so sweet and tiny in it.

What?....I can't hear you.

This is what Tyler and I say a lot to each other now. The reason for such is baby Skylar's healthy set of lungs. At the request of a few family members who will think this is cute- we are posting a short clip of Skylar crying. You can't really see anything, but you can hear. It was some time in the middle of the night and we had a doctors appointment the next day. We decided that we would play the clip for him and see if he had any advice or if it was "normal". He graciously declined to hear the clip but decided that it was just colic based on what we told him. I would rate this episode at about an 8 out of 10 on her crying scale. She really only reaches 10 when she gets upset in her car seat. I don't know what happens but we will be driving down the road and she will be asleep in her car seat and then start screaming bloody murder. The first time it happened I was about 10 minutes from home and just thought I would try and make it home real quick. I had no idea she would scream the entire time. Now I pull over and get her out and calm her down because she gets so worked up- which is why we don't get out much:) Any suggestions?

Father's Day

Tyler had a good first Father's Day. He had off work all weekend and we just took it easy. Tyler's dad got to come in town for a short visit and meet Skylar. She welcomed him with a nice spit up as soon as he got here.

Skylar Kate Meece

I havent updated our blog in a while so I will give a quick rundown of everything that has been going on and then try and update more often in the future.
Skylar Kate arrived on May 6 at 12:42 pm. She weighed 7.4 and was 18in. long. The whole process was amazing and went very smoothly. She is 5 1/2 weeks old now and it has been a crazy time. We are still trying to figure everything out between colic, reflux, and formula...but I think things are looking up. We appreciate all of the help we got and couldn't have done it without everyone. Skylar is getting more alert everyday and really looks around at everything and studies our faces. She loves bathtime and to be outside (although now it is getting so hot!). She doesn't like waking up and is usually pretty grumpy about it. She rolled over from her tummy to her back the other day. She is really strong and gets the death grip on my hair or my shirt when I am holding her. We are still not sure who she looks like- where did she get those dark eyes and hair?!
We love her so much and can't imagine life without her. Even though we could do with a little more sleep and a little less crying- I don't want her to grow up too fast- I love this newborn stage!
